A drawing of a reindeer, made with the help of an easy step by step tutorial.

Rudolph the Cerise-Nosed Reindeer  is a 1964 Christmas stop motion animated television special that first aired Lord's day, Dec 6, 1964. It has since been telecast every year, making information technology the longest continuously running Christmas Tv set special.

This tutorial shares an easy way for children of all ages to draw this classic reindeer. His recognizable confront and trunk are there, just like what they have seen on Boob tube for so many years.

If your students are just learning how to draw, take them concentrate of getting all the shapes just where they want them. Older ones though, might have fun adding shadows forth the edges of his brown body. Using actress pressure with their crayons will exercise the trick. Oh, and the same could exist done with the trees, so that Rudolph almost has the same dimensional look as he did in his debut so long ago.

Getting Started with Cartoon Guides

The best manner to get students off to a good start to any drawing lesson is to show them how to use guides every bit a reference point.

You may have noticed that all of the tutorials on this site have a dashed line running through the center of each step, in both horizontal and vertical directions. If students make theirown centered lines on theirain newspaper, earlier drawing, they will have an piece of cake reference to follow.

Cartoon skills are all almost getting the size and placement of lines on newspaper, so having some visual reference betoken to get started, will ever aid anyone learn how to be a little more authentic.

So does that mean students demand to become out a ruler to depict a big fat line down the center of their paper before they start? Goodness no, please don't! That will almost likely exist hard to erase and distract from whatever finished art. No, simply fold the sheet of paper in half both ways, make a crease, and unfold. The beauty is that past the time the drawing is done and colored in, the creases will disappear.

Materials for a Reindeer Cartoon

  • Eraser. Big ones you can hold in your hand practise a much better job than only the pencil tips.
  • Black Sharpie Mark. These fine signal permanent marker pens make nice black outlines, have a proficient tip for coloring, and never drain when they become wet. Apply them with good ventilation and add together extra paper underneath to protect your tables.
  • Prang Crayons. These are a flake softer than other crayons then they sometimes look like oil pastels. They also accept a some nice brown shades that Crayola does non take unless you buy their larger boxes.
  • Crayola Crayons. The reliable brand that always works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite golden orange and yellow colors that seem a bit richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
